A commitment to continuously improve and a desire to provide a “best in class” service to the operational business has initiated a multi-year digital transformation program. To successfully deliver this change, additional resource is required to enable key members of the Finance team to lend experience to both the Finance Transformation and wider project.

Barribal Associates are delighted to be continuing to work with this well regarded and high growth company; a multi-site business with a reputation for delivering outstanding value and customer service. The business has grown significantly over the last decade to become one of the leading players in this niche, high demand market.

Reporting to the Director of Finance you will be responsible for overseeing the core Finance activities across the organisation including, Financial Accounting, Tax, Operational Finance and Financial Planning & Analysis.

This is a hands-on role where you will be required to delegate and manage effectively whilst also “rolling up your sleeves” to take on certain challenges and activities yourself. You will need to be flexible to manage and adapt your workload as well as that of the team, to cope with the impact of the Digital Transformation project on business as usual.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • In partnership with the Director of Finance, responsible for managing a finance department of 50 people via a high-performing team of 5 direct reports.

  • Responsible for championing and supporting a customer service ethos in the department.
  • Responsible for adopting a pragmatic, risk focussed approach to evaluating and resolving emerging compliance issues.

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Bringing your experience to bear to ensure the continuous improvement of the core finance activities doesn’t cease during the Digital Transformation project.
  • Supporting the Director of Finance and Head of Risk in maintaining a strong control environment ensuring that the business is J-SOX compliant in core finance processes.

Financial Accounting & Reporting:

  • Owning the delivery of routine reporting, ensuring thorough review through to sign-off on all key internal financial reporting deliverables (Month-End Analysis, Balance Sheet Recs, Daily Sales, etc.)
  • Using strong IFRS technical knowledge to deliver a no-surprises audit including required management papers (e.g. Annual Impairment Review, IFRS 16, IFRS 9, IFRS 15).
  • Partnering with the relevant Heads of department to ensure the IFRS 16 system accurately reflects all vehicle and property lease agreements and continue to develop this capability.

Tax:

  • Reviewing all key tax deliverables including the VAT and Corporation Tax computations
  • When tax issues emerge, whether from a change in regulation or a change in business practice, evaluating their impact and risk.

Operational Finance:

  • In partnership with the Head of Operational Finance, determining FX exposure, reviewing working capital and proactively managing the transactional finance teams.

Financial Planning & Analysis:

  • Providing timely information to the Board, as required, to enable a balanced and objective assessment of the success of the Group's strategy and objectives.
  • Delivering periodic budgets and forecasts, with support of the FP&A team.

People and Customer Service:

  • Managing the day-to-day finance relationships with external parties such as the auditors and tax advisers.
  • Building relationships across the business to establish yourself as a credible business partner for senior stakeholders.

Applicants will be fully qualified (ideally ACA from a Big4 audit background) with a CV that will easily demonstrate a similar leadership position on which you want to build and grow your career.

You will thrive in a fast-paced organisation, most likely within a Group Reporting environment, taking control of your own workload and managing competing priorities. You will have a passion for detail and accuracy, aligned to strong commercial acumen and the ability to use your own initiative with the confidence to challenge and present your point of view concisely and effectively.

You will have managed high performing and highly motivated teams, with experience of developing financial procedures and control environments to ensure compliance with relevant standards.

What IS a prerequisite, is your attitude and aptitude in taking a proactive and autonomous approach to your work and the desire to have a tangible impact on the business itself. Your commitment to delivery, coupled with a focussed desire to succeed within a demanding, exciting growth business, will provide an enviable platform for the progression and development of your career.
