3PL Sub-contract Buyer

My client is an established and growing global organisation that works within the electronics distribution sector working with clients within the Defence, Aerospace, Automotive and Medical sectors. My client is a well-known leading provider of comprehensive supply-chain solutions with a 20-year history in the industry. Catering to an array of blue-chip companies across multiple sectors, they are recognised as a pivotal one-stop solution.

Summary of Role:

As a Commodity Buyer, you will play a pivotal role in a dynamic team, collaborating closely with the 3PL Supply Chain Manager. Your main duties will revolve around the efficient management and procurement of PCBs, subcontracting services, and custom items including metalwork, plastics, fixings, and fasteners. Your role is crucial in ensuring cost-effectiveness, maintaining quality, and securing a high level of service from our subcontractors to meet our customers' needs.

Your responsibilities will extend to creating added value by partnering with suppliers to streamline manufacturing processes, coordinating with the operations team to guarantee kit preparation aligns with manufacturing schedules, and overseeing subcontractor performance to ensure timely delivery according to customer specifications. Additionally, you will take the lead in managing the procurement process for industrial component led customers, overseeing everything from cost analysis of bill of materials to the issuing of purchase orders, while working in tandem with the project management team to guarantee deliveries are made promptly to our customers.

You will also be responsible with identifying and vetting new suppliers for the assigned commodities, working alongside the Quality team to review First Article Inspection Report (FAIR) documents, and organising audits at subcontractor facilities to verify adherence to our required standards.

Regular engagement with suppliers to negotiate and collaborate on optimal supply-chain solutions is a critical aspect of this role. You will ensure continuity of supply while effectively reducing the total cost of ownership and associated risks.

Stock Control - procuring to lean inventory.

Supplier and customer risk management

Project compliance management

Manage contracts with sub-contract suppliers monitoring KPI’s

Essential Functions:

Minimise risk to continuity of supply by assessing BoM risk.

Continuously gather, analyse, interpret, and act upon market intelligence.

Work with suppliers and influence internal stakeholders.

Contribute to the innovation strategy as technology, markets, and business needs change.

Manage multiple projects, often complex and simultaneously.

Strong business system capability (INFOR, Microsoft BI, Excel and Z2Data)

Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.

Data driven with a desire for accuracy and efficiency.
