Maintenance Technician / Skilled Handy-Person

Forte Recruitment Solutions are looking for an experienced maintenance technician / handy-person to join our client based within central Basingstoke.

What are the hours of work?

The successful Maintenance Technician will be working 40 hours per week. Monday – Friday 8.00 am – 5.00 pm. They will also be required to work alternate weekends with a fixed rest day off during the week.

What about the pay?

The client is paying the successful candidate £11.72 per hour whilst training, with an uplift to £12.62 per hour once fully trained. Overtime is paid at time & and quarter and bank holiday's are paid at time and a half with a day off in lieu.

What would be the main responsibilities?

The successful Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the following:-

• Maintaining the facilities, equipment, and premises.
• Daily, weekly, and monthly checks to be undertaken of the mechanical handling equipment, warehouse & building.
• Completing all building repairs which include, fixtures, fittings,plumbing, electrical and painting & decorating.
• Co-ordination and organisation of visiting contractors.
• General daily maintenance duties to maximise equipment in order for the production team to deliver efficient operations.

What key skills would you need for the role?

The successful Maintenance Technician would need to have the following skill sets:-

• Strong understanding, knowledge & practical experience of DIY.
• Ability to work alone and use own initiative.
• Hands on approach.
• Good communication skills.
• Previous use of Mobile Elevated Work Platforms - is an advantage but not essential.
• Electrotechnical Qualification - is an advantage but not essential.
• Counterbalance Forklift and/or Pallet Truck Licence - is an advantage but not essential.
