Our client is looking for a Merchandiser who has previous experience within wholesale or retail.

The ideal candidate must be commercially astute with a proven track record, able to thrive under pressure and good problem-solving skills. You’ll work cross-functionally across all key departments and execute merchandising strategies designed to achieve sales and profitability targets and drive optimum performance.

Central to the team, you’ll use your knowledge of the wholesale/retail landscape, customer objectives and consumer shopper insights to crunch the numbers and make profitable timely decisions for the short, medium and long- term impact.

Role responsibilities:

  • Drive product strategy across the developing channels working closely with the sales team.
  • Supporting the sales team with costings and price negotiations whilst ensuring margins are met.
  • Evaluate the marketplace and relevant competitor information on a regular basis to provide recommendations for product development and pricing.
  • Managing stock levels and rebuys.
  • Communicating complex product development requirements with Far East factories and placing purchase orders.  
  • Manage the critical path, liaising with factories and suppliers to ensure production dates are met and customer deliveries are on time.
  • Together with the admin team ensure sales and purchase orders are correctly entered on the system when customer orders are received and that all order requirements are followed.
  • Ensuring customer packaging requirements are met.
  • Adhering to each individual customer’s specific sealing process.
  • Liaise with shipping department to ensure deliveries are on schedule.
  • Keeping customers updated on their delivery status and answering their queries relating to deliveries.
  • Managing customer repeat and call off orders.
  • Follow up on any customer problems/issues which arise relating to stock and deliveries.

Key skills & Experience

  • Prior experience in Merchandising within a retail or FMCG business
  • Good knowledge of critical path management / liaising with buyers, factories and sales is key.
  • Excellent excel, numerical & analytical abilities.
  • First class communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Works well under pressure with a can-do attitude.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Highly organised, efficient and can work to tight deadlines, within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Must be pro-active, able to use initiative.
