Procurement Specialist/Material Expeditor

Steele Charles are delighted to have been retained with a multi-national import-export business in Fife. The organisation is seeking to hire an ambitious individual in their early stages of their career. 

You will play a vital role in ensuring the timely delivery north of £20m in products. You will be responsible for expediting orders, coordinating, and storing relevant paperwork with suppliers, and monitoring supplier delivery performance. You will be working within the Procurement team in a rapidly growing business. You will be part of a team that contributes directly to the business’s success.

Performance is monitored through Key Performance Indicators and individual review with your line manager every month.  KPIs will be reviewed regularly.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor and track supplier readiness and delivery dates.
  • Identify potential delays or bottlenecks in the supply chain and take proactive measures to expedite orders as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all material transactions, including purchase orders, shipping records, and supplier contracts.
  • Generate regular reports on key performance metrics such as “On time delivery”, “lead times”, and “supplier response rates”.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for suppliers regarding order status and delivery schedules.
  • Foster positive relationships with suppliers and ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials.
  • Address any supplier performance issues or concerns and work collaboratively to find solutions and improve service levels.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Logistics, and Operations, to troubleshoot problems and implement corrective actions.
  • We are looking for an energetic confident communicator.
  • Preferably educated at University level – but not essential.
  • Ability to manage a diverse and fluid workflow.
  • Experience in working with teams across Europe would be an advantage.
  • The ability to speak other languages is advantageous but not essential.
  • Administrative experience in a busy, fast paced organisation.
  • Good, competent IT skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Knowledge of general administration procedures.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Flexible and adaptable to change.
