Our client, a leading drinks business, are looking for a skilled Packaging Operator to join their high-performing team, ensuring their products are packaged to the highest standards of quality and safety.

  • Base Salary: £30,000.00
  • Shift Allowance: £6,203.93
  • Shift Pattern: 3-shift pattern

Role Overview

As a Packaging Operator, you’ll be at the heart of the production process, operating and monitoring advanced machinery on canning and kegging lines.

You’ll play a key role in keeping production running smoothly, maintaining quality, and hitting targets.

This is a hands-on, fast-paced role that requires attention to detail, technical know-how, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Responsibility

  • Operate and control packaging machinery, including canning and keg lines, palletisers, depalletisers, and robots

  • Ensure continuous supply of materials to keep production moving efficiently

  • Load and unload trailers and trucks, including FLT and clamp driving

  • Perform regular quality checks, sampling, and record-keeping using SAP and LIMS systems

  • Monitor process indicators, record production data, and report any anomalies or faults

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment, performing housekeeping and basic maintenance tasks

  • Collaborate with lab, filter, and engineering teams to ensure product quality and resolve issues

  • Start up and shut down lines, carry out format changes, and follow all SOPs and safety protocols

  • Report incidents, near misses, and equipment issues promptly

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience operating keg and canning lines, forklifts, and other factory machinery in the food or drinks industry

  • Up-to-date FLT and shunter licenses; clamp “top hat” experience desirable

  • Health & Safety, Food Safety, and HACCP training

  • MEWP and CIP skills (keg)

  • Experience with SAP or similar systems

  • Strong organisational skills – able to prioritise, multitask, and complete audit documentation

  • Computer literate and comfortable with data entry and reporting

  • Flexible, reliable, and eager to learn new skills

  • Excellent communication and teamworking abilities
