Head of Procurement – Food Retail
Our client, a thriving c£15 million turnover food company, is seeking a passionate and energetic Head of Procurement to lead their team of buyers and work closely with the Managing Director. As a key member of the senior management team, the successful candidate will engage daily with global food suppliers, driving excellence in every aspect of the purchasing process.
Based in Surrey, Friday WFH.
£60-£85,000 Depending on experience + Benefits
Key Responsibilities of the Head of Procurement:
- Team Management: Support and development of 6 Buyers
- Strategic Sourcing: Identify and source products that meet customer specifications, ensuring the best combination of price, lead-time, and quality.
- Negotiation: Secure the best prices, payment terms, and performance from suppliers.
- Risk reduction: Identify, anticipate and navigate any supply issues
- Ethical Compliance: Uphold the company's ethical sourcing policies, ensuring full compliance at all times.
- Quality & Logistics: Work with the supply chain and importing team to assist with quality control and logistics, including importing and customs
- Tender Management: Oversee customer tenders, providing Sales & Marketing with relevant pricing and data.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Demand Planning Manager and Operations Manager to meet delivery, availability, and stock targets.
- Supplier Development: Continuously research, discuss, and introduce new suppliers to enhance the supply chain and company offering
- Customer Insight: Gain a deep understanding of customers, their brands, and their requirements.
Required experience for the Head of Procurement:
- Proven experience in procurement from a food background
- Excellent administration and communication skills- externally and with internal teams
- A commercial mindset with a strategic approach
Salary and Benefits:
- £60-£85,000 DOE
- Discretionary and EOT bonus
- Matched Pension contributions up to 5%

- Wfh 1 day per week (Fridays)
- 25 days holiday increasing to 28 with length of service
