Elevation Recruitment Group are partnered with a leading European FMCG business who are recruiting a Technical Assistant. Based in Sheffield, the company imports over 80 products directly from global growers, offering them under their own brands, in bulk, through Amazon, direct to consumers, and via private label partnerships. 

As Technical Assistant, this role will support the Technical Department with administrative and operational tasks. They work closely with the Site Technical Manager to develop and maintain food safety and quality assurance programs, ensuring all products are safe, legally compliant, and meet or exceed customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in supplier and raw material approval and monitoring.
  • Collaborate with NPD and marketing teams on label sign-offs, nutritional data, shelf-life studies, and customer testing needs.
  • Manage artwork processes, technical datasheets, product specifications, and private label contracts.
  • Check packaging deliveries for food safety, quality, and legal compliance.
  • Complete customer documentation (e.g., SAQs, product specifications, GMO/allergen documents).
  • Maintain the customer questionnaire database.
  • Verify regulatory compliance for Amazon listings, company websites, and technical datasheets.
  • Approve/reject new raw materials and packaging (with Site Technical Manager input).
  • Support supplier non-conformance investigations and resolutions.
  • Report and maintain packaging waste data.
  • Support training initiatives in food safety and quality.
  • Undertake additional technical department tasks as needed.
Skills & Experience Required:
  • Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or Nutrition.
  • HACCP Level 3 certification
  • Food Safety Level 3 certification.
  • Knowledge of HACCP/TACCP/VACCP, food legislation, BRCGS standards, and Organic standards.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Proficient in Excel and database systems.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
