Our client is seeking an Optical Consultant to work in their Godalming store.

Optical Consultant - The role

As an Optical consultant in our Godalming franchise Boots store you will be working on the shopfloor providing a high standard of care to our customers, recommending products to aid their Eye health and lifestyle.

You will assist in the operation of the store through effective dispensing and the delivery of excellent customer service.

You will be part of a successful retail team and receive thorough training and development to enhance and expand your understanding of optical products.

The role of a qualified Optical Consultant involves:

• Carrying out pre-checks on the customer before the eye examination
• Ordering and dispensing of glasses and contact lenses
• Teaching customers how to put in contact lenses
• Providing after sales support through repairs and adjustments
• Working together as part of a team
• Completing operational and administrative tasks associated with the running of a store
• Support other colleagues within the stores to develop their knowledge

Optical Consultant - What you’ll need to have

• Passion for customer service

• Experience working in retail or an optical environment

For the reception desk - greeting patients on arrival, making appointments, accurately collecting and recording patient information, taking orders, advising and reminding them of appointments and contacting customers regarding

Administration tasks and paper work so that the clinic runs efficiently. There will also be administrative tasks such as record keeping, preparing the clinic ahead and filing.

You will also be dealing with daily banking, cashing up, taking and recording payments from customers and ensure that the till is properly maintained.

The organisation of the reception area and dispensing area - ensuring that all the displays are well presented and the consulting rooms are kept in prime condition.

Team work is essential and is a very big part of our successful franchise team so far.

It is vital you are a friendly enthusiastic person who can provide personal customer service to all of our patients, we pride ourselves on our quality of service here in Godalming.

The Optical Consultant will understand customer needs and approach customers to offer assistance
Offer excellent customer service
The Optical Consultant will actively seek to improve your own skills and product knowledge
Effectively inform customers about all current products and offers
The Optical Consultant will carry out all basic till transactions and customer paperwork correctly
Other Duties - you will either come with the following experience or will be trained:
The Optical Consultant will understand visual perception and basic visual defects
Analyse prescriptions accurately, and dispense accordingly where appropriate
Ensure collections are conducted in a professional manner
The Retail / Optical Consultant will understand NHS practices and procedures
Optical Consultant - Requirements
Experience in the retail sector or as an optical consultant.
Ability to offer excellent customer service.

Hours

Mon-Sat (day off tbc) no Sundays or bank holidays.
8.45am-5.30pm - working 5days/week.
