Buying Assistant - Retail

South Wales - Hybrid

Up to £30,000 + Bonus & Benefits

I am currently recruiting for an experienced Buying Assistant to join an established and well-regarded retailer based within their South Wales office. Working as an integral part of the Commercial department, within the Pricing team to develop & refine pricing strategy to optimise category performance & market position.

Your additional responsibilities will include -

• Create, refine & measure the commercial strategy for the pricing & promotional campaigns calendar
• Conduct regular pricing reviews to ensure the pricing is up to date, accurate and in-line with the pricing strategy
• Analyse & track category sales & margin performance
• Monitor key competitor in-store pricing and recommend price adjustments to ensure you are continuously competitive
• Understand the impact of price changes on basket/transaction trends, sales & margin performance as well as the impact on wider business metrics
• Review data to building insightful & actionable pricing recommendations to drive and increase profitability.
• Understand market changes, industry pressures, inflation, trends etc to help inform wider pricing decisions.
• Responsible for updating and maintaining various databases and systems.
• Assisting with streamlining & improving processes and overall efficiencies.
• Support with ad-hoc pricing & promotional initiatives and projects for the commercial team

Key requirements for the role -

• Must have previous experience of Pricing or data analysis within a FMCG or Retail environment
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of promotions management.
• Highly numerate, with proven ability to manipulate and analyse data to resolve commercial issues.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence others and drive change.
• Strong IT skills with good understanding of MS Office, advanced Excel
