We have a new opportunity for a Supply Development Engineer to join an international manufacturing company in Newcastle under Lyme that invests in people and provides career opportunities and development. The Supply Development Engineer will be involved with compiling performance reports, performing audit reports and collating supplier data.  There may be the opportunity to travel to other sites on an adhoc basis and also the opportunity to work a hybrid role.

Job Description for the Supply Development Engineer:
  • Qualifying new suppliers
  • Assess new and current supplier capabilities including PPAP approval
  • Perform process audits and monitor & control the audit programme
  • Advise on continuous improvement for suppliers
  • Root cause identification from quality complaints
  • Set up development programmes with suppliers to ensure their materials and products meet specifications, using statistical and analytical methods to evaluate suitability
  • Provide support to other sites to overcome quality problems with suppliers
  • Use and development of the company’s quality tools including the PPAP system – change management, Supplier Quality Performance, Supplier Evaluation 
Requirements for the Supply Development Engineer role:
  • Experience as a second party auditor or certified lead auditor
  • Experience within a similar role within a high industry regulated sector
  • Knowledge and understanding of core quality tools (APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, PPAP)
  • Practical experience of problem solving (8D, 5Y, Ishikawa etc)
  • Experienced in the use of applied quality tools, Kaizen, 5S, six sigma etc
  • Be able to advise suppliers of IATF 16949 principles and other recognised quality systems
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be IT literate and confident using Microsoft Office
  • Must have a driving licence and be able to travel to suppliers and other sites in the UK and possibly overseas
  • Be able to work out of normal office hours when required
