Purchasing Manager

This Purchasing Manager role is a permanent position working Monday to Friday 8.30am-6pm offering a salary up to £80k plus bonus and great benefits!!
As Purchasing Manager you will report into the Managing Director with responsibility for managing the purchasing team, which deals with approximately 150 suppliers globally for over 20,000 product lines in sourcing new products, negotiating optimum terms from new and existing suppliers and placing of orders. Key responsibilities will include:
- Manage the Purchasing department
- Sourcing new products
- Reviewing contract terms
- Develop an inventory management strategy with a view to improving stock accuracies
- Be accountable for cost, quality, reliability and delivery of products sourced
- Negotiating and influencing suppliers to achieve best market value
- Identifying areas for improvement to current processes and procedures
- Develop and own appropriate departmental KPIs to ensure performance and improvement is measured and acted on
- Development of new systems and working practices
- Demonstrate strategic cost saving, improving on time delivery, lead time reduction and effective inventory control
- Control purchase of products, capital and non-capital lines as per the store replenishment requirements or sales forecasts and expediting orders once placed
- Optimise stock turnover by ensuring adequate/frequent ordering and liaising with suppliers to provide product sales forecasts
- Ongoing monitoring of product failure rates and negotiate resolution with suppliers
- Liaising with suppliers to obtain contributions to marketing as required
- Occasional travel and overnight stays will be required
We are really keen to hear from applicants with the following skills and experience:
- Previous experience as a Purchasing Manager or similar ideally from a retail background
- Experience in sourcing hard goods – electrical or mechanical will be essential
- Experience in sourcing finished goods from the UK or abroad
- Strong people management skills with demonstrable success in leading a team
- CIPS qualification would be advantageous but not essential
- Proven success in monitoring suppliers and cost saving whilst upholding quality of product
- Excellent IT skills including MS Office and ERP systems knowledge
