My client is a respected international FMCG manufacturer with a global manufacturing footprint. They have recently embarked on a transformation to create a more agile approach moving forward. This role fits in the new purchasing structure, reporting into the Purchasing Director. Investment continues to support systems development, and the recruitment plan to add new talent to the business, therefore its an exciting time to join full of opportunity.

Description

As the Category Manager - Packaging you will:

• Map out the current packaging supply base, relationships, and demand to support the development and roll out of a new category strategy. This should also support the overall business strategy
• Build relationships internally with operations, NPD / pack tech team, and sales / marketing to ensure the functions are aligned
• Ensure the business has complete visibility of risk associated with the category, ideally allowing proactive steps to be taken to counter margin erosion, supply issues, or technical challenges
• Develop knowledge within the purchasing function on packaging to support succession planning
• Contribute to the purchasing leadership with ideas, actions, and initiatives
• Ensure the business are continuing to invest in sustainability, understanding changes in technology and legislation that will support / impact the organisation
• Build an external network to harness innovation in the sector

Profile

The ideal candidate will:

• Already a Category Manager - Packaging within an FMCG environment
• Demonstrate knowledge of innovation and sustainability within the sector
• Proven senior purchasing professional used to managing large spend portfolios
• Can demonstrate the development and ownership of a complex category strategy
• Effective communication style, used to delivering presentations to leadership
