Sue Ross Recruitment are working with a specialist organisation who play an integral part within the NHS supply chain, in the recruitment of a Category Specialist.

We are looking for a Procurement Category Specialist to deliver an excellent service to the NHS and provide creative, cost-effective solution.  In this role you will be responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of category management within a range of procurement portfolios for the NHS.

You will foster a highly professional and responsive approach and act as the main point of contact for both the Suppliers and the NHS Trusts, building and maintaining strong relationships with all key stakeholders including suppliers and NHS customers.

This will include:

*Managing a NHS market sub-category

*Gaining and maintaining an understanding of the market, industry trends, product/service options and best practice.

*Ensuring stakeholder and supplier engagement, in development of the category strategy, to identify product innovation, best practice, process improvement and efficiency opportunities.

*Managing the supplier relationship – not only during the strategy stage/sourcing process but throughout the lifetime of the contract.

*Participating in supplier business reviews and review market trends/technologies as they arise in assigned categories.

*Delivering cost-saving projects for NHS Trusts; utilising your skill and knowledge to benchmark their spend and come up with creative ideas to improve value

*Overseeing, alongside the Procurement Team, the mini-competition process under our frameworks from initiation to conclusion and thereafter the management of the relationship with the Trust/s.

*Running data analytics to find value delivering options for the NHS.

*Delivering against programme targets and KPIs.

*Committing to excellent data quality.

*Attending site visits to Suppliers and NHS Trusts as part of your Supplier and Customer Relationship strategies.

Required skills and experience:

  • Educated to A level standards or equivalent.
  • Understanding of the Public Contract Regulations 2015 and be able to advise and provide guidance on these within the NHS setting.
  • Experience in a procurement or supply chain role.
  • Results focused, responding naturally to pressure and demanding deadlines.
  • Able to demonstrate good commercial acumen, attention to detail and previous category knowledge.
  • An exceptional communicator and stakeholder manager with the ability to build and maintain an extensive network of contacts within the category.
  • Highly developed numerical and analytical person with strong Excel knowledge.
  • Effective communicator able to take customer requirements and formulate strategy.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Ideally, you will be qualified to CIPS Level 4 (or equivalent) or willing to work towards MCIPS qualification, but this is not a pre-requisite.
  • Hold a valid driving licence and willing to travel.
