My client, a successful consumer brand near Liverpool is recruiting an experienced Senior Buyer to join their dynamic, forward thinking buying team. Reporting into MD, you will source existing and develop new products, in order to ensure continuing market share.
Identification of potential product to bring to market
Negotiating for best price point
Ensure product packing design is in process and lead times are adhered to
Provide relevant information for compliance, purchase and marketing to set up new items on the system
Check duty structure and import restrictions
Plan the logistics of the item
Decide sale price and inform relevant departments
Manage order quantity for the first order and then subsequent orders
Arrange samples of pre-production to approve quality and artwork
Arrange inspections if needed before shipment
Finalise financial terms and arrange deposit if needed
Liaise with purchase team to control the stock
Liaise with finance team to arrange payment for all suppliers
Working with couple of big accounts to promote certain category i.e. Laundry, Bins, etc.
Accountability for exceeding KPIs – Sales, Margins, LFLs
Managing a large buying team
Setting range review objectives for each category
Educated to A level/Degree level
Must have extensive experience working in a Senior Buyer role within a consumer product environment – essential
Experience working with consumer products is essential
Exposure of Houseware/Gift market is desirable
Understanding & experience with Far East & Indian manufacturers is key
Able to negotiate high value contracts/purchases
In-depth knowledge and understanding of the import/export process and lead times
Commercial awareness & able to keep up to date/ahead of UK trends in relevant sectors
Professional with commercial acumen to analyse ranges and identify gaps in market
Willing to travel on a regular basis and prepared to spend time away from home & abroad when safe to do so
Experience of MS Office to an intermediary level
Knowledge of Microsoft Navision is desirable
Experience across online platforms is important
Salary up to £65k (depending on experience, negotiable) + Car Allowance, 22 days holiday + bank holidays, pension, flexible working hours/remote working tbc, office based hours 8.30am-5pm Monday-Friday.
