What does the role involve?
As a Category Assistant, you will provide the business categories with the necessary reports and analysis and collect and analyse data, measuring Category performance. You will need to be proactive and creative in suggesting and influencing trading, marketing and commercial initiatives and will focus on maximising gross profit through effective negotiation with suppliers, in line with Company expectations. In addition, you’ll look to maintain the integrity of pricing of the Company in its markets, whilst developing the product range to meet the needs of the customer.
The successful candidate will require:
• Effective communication skills in order to develop and enhance relationships with suppliers and both internal and external customers
• The ability to maintain accurate records of supplier negotiations and agreements
• Experience supporting a buying or Category team or similar and will have strong organisational skills
• Good numeracy skills and a high standard of IT Skills, particularly advanced Excel
