Associate Merchandiser

The Associate Merchandiser is responsible for assisting the Merchandiser in the purchasing, intake and distribution of merchandise internationally in order to maximize sales and margin within the assigned departments of responsibility. Working closely with the Buying department and their assigned merchandising team, the core areas of responsibility are as follows: Trading, Planning, Relationship with others.

What you'll be doing

  • Remain fully conversant with all orders processing through the system, working closely with the Buying team ensuring assortment plans are updated
  • On a weekly basis, review the sales performance from the previous week for products within the assigned departments of responsibility and identify lines for repeat. Present recommendations to the Merchandiser and Buyer for sign off in weekly repeats meeting
  • Work with QC to ensure orders are authorized to conform with all Claire's Accessories guidelines
  • Responsible for managing intake, ensuring that all orders are delivered on time and applying charges where applicable; update PEMS accordingly
  • Review weekly reports from logistics, highlighting any issues to the Merchandiser
  • Prepare information for an Air Freight Report on a weekly basis, tracking airfreight costs against budget and recommending ways to reduce costs at all times
  • Conduct store visits to obtain direct feedback relating to individual products and stock levels and highlight any changes to allocation team to enhance sales at store and company level
  • Work closely with Associate Buyer to ensure correct style / sku information is provided to sales tracker coordinator and review tracker weekly
  • Responsible for collating the MPPR (Monthly Product Performance Review) pack and attending meetings where appropriate deputizing in meetings when Merchandiser is absent
  • Produce all historical analysis for strategy packs
  • Coordinate strategy pack including collating and printing
  • Prepare and review ad hoc and bespoke reports as required
  • Maintain excellent communication links with colleagues from the Buying and Merchandising departments
  • Work closely with International colleagues

What you'll need

  • Ideally working towards a fashion related degree such as a BA in Design, Textile Management, Fashion Journalism, Fashion and Marketing or Merchandising Management
  • At least 2-3 years experience within a Merchandising role
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to collaborate with others and work in a team focused environment
  • Strong time management skills as well as ability to multi-task
  • Comfortable working with large quantities of data/information and analysing that information to provide insights on the business.
