Role Overview

To undertake accurate, timely and cost efficient delivery of procurement activities to support business delivery.

Key Accountabilities

  • Receive, verify and execute Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders.

  • Minimise occurrences of negative business impacts – such as stock-outs, hot-shots and the like by providing appropriate support including into asset planning process.

  • Verify and challenge as appropriate Specifications, Quantities, Vendors, Delivery Times, Quoted Rates, Terms of purchase.

  • Pro-actively seek, realise and report value opportunities during the P2P cycle. Competitively bid and negotiate where appropriate. Seek and progress opportunities for efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Support development of Buying best practice in the UKBU and the education of the user and supplier groups. Support development of a suite of tools, systems and processes to ensure best practice is established and maintained and occurrences of maverick procurement activity are minimised.

  • Timely liaison with Materials and Logistics personnel regarding delivery and receipt of materials and equipment.

  • Ensure understanding, application and leadership by example of all responsibilities with regard to the UKBUs procurement policy, processes and procedures.

Major Challenges

  • Ensuring compliance with UKBU Procurement policy, process and procedure across business, vendors and shipping agents;

  • Developing the Buying role into a BU recognized value add service and source of expertise that delivers the optimum technical and commercial outcomes;

Financial Accountability and Dimensions

  • To be determined commensurate with experience.

  • Supporting the business in managing their cost and spend profiles.

  • Timely placement of purchase orders as required meeting the objectives of the business, including schedule and budget.

  • Prevent or otherwise resolve all third party claims as they arise.

Qualifications

  • Higher Further education preferred

  • Suitable industry experience

Skills / experience:

  • Relevant procurement experience within an Oil and Gas Operator, utilising online P2P system, ideally experienced across all O&G categories however a bias towards operations support is preferred.

  • An in-depth understanding and appreciation of the full P2P cycle and role within it.

Knowledge (e.g. systems, software, procedures, regulations):

  • Fully competent in the use of Maximo as a buying tool.

  • Computer literate, with good hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
